Buying a Foreclosure at Dane County Sheriff Sale
Properties sold at auction by the Sheriff's Office are typically advertised in The Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Times. Notices appear for at least three weeks prior to the date of the sale. All properties are sold “as is” meaning the property condition is not specified nor will any repairs happen prior to the sale. The Sheriff's Office cannot give permission for any prospective bidders to enter and inspect the property prior to sale. The Sheriff's Office does not know whether or not people occupy the property. Further, it’s the buyer’s responsibility to remove any occupants, if the property is occupied.
Questions regarding the legalities of purchasing a foreclosed home should be directed to a foreclosure attorney that specializes in those types of sales.
